Your Christmas Events

Thank you to everyone who is supporting us by donating toys, acting as collection points and holding fundraising events in aid of Make a Child Smile This Christmas! Here are just a few of your activities;

  

Well Done and Thank you to;

 

Schools

  • Mowden Infant School in Darlington is currently asking all children to bring in toys in the lead up to the Christmas Perfomance.
  • Bishopton Redmarsall C of E School are undertaking a collection of toys within school.
  • Yarm Prep School has a 'Giving Tree' within school in aid of Make a Child Smile This Christmas.

  

Colleges 

  • Hartlepool College of FE are holding a special Christmas Market in College. As part of this they will be asking everyone to bring a toy for Make a Child Smile.

 

Local Community

  • The Army based in  North Yorkshire are collecting all the toys from the drop off points again this year. 

  • Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre are holding a Christmas Eve Family Party 12 noon till 3pm tickets are £3 and are available from the centres reception. At the party there will be a wide variety of activities and performances as well as a visit from Santa Clause. We Proceeds of the raffle are going Make A Child Smile.

 

Business Community

  • Barclaycard, who again have provided volunteers to help sort the toys this Christmas. They will also be holding their own toy collection.
  • Psyche are both a drop off point and the central distribution hub this year.
  • Sainsburys at Bells & Bells Stores, WHSmith, Travelcare, Matalan and Asda various Asda stores are all drop off points for toys.
  • Abbey are organising ongoing fundraising / toy collection for the appeal.
  • Swiftcare held a fundraising activity and raised £100.
  • Vantis held a Christmas evening at Darlington FC for their clients and Staff.  Everyone who was invited was asked to bring a toy for the toy appeal. Alan Ross, Breakfast Presenter from Magic 1170 attended and explained;

What a fantastic evening. Its was so great to see people enjoying themselves at Christmas, however thinking about those children in our area less fortunate. The staff and clients of Vantis were so generous!"
